Research Assistant, Foreign Policy


Brookings India is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to provide research support to Fellows working on India’s foreign policy. Research will include a range of subjects including, but not limited to, India’s economic and security relations with the neighbourhood, the Indo-Pacific region, and Europe. This position is based out of New Delhi, India.


  • Providing research support to Fellows in all aspects of foreign policy research
  • Collecting primary and secondary data from various sources including archives, government sources, and online
  • Providing fact-checking, editing, and proofreading support
  • Drafting materials and possibly co-authoring articles, blog posts, and other publications
  • Assisting with management of projects
  • Assisting in event coordination and other operational tasks as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in international affairs, political science, history, public policy, or a related field is required
  • Candidates with a master’s degree are encouraged to apply
  • No prior work experience required but internships or past professional experiences in public policy research would be beneficial

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills
  • Excellent writing, communication, analytical, and organisational skills
  • A demonstrable understanding of the India’s bilateral, regional, or multilateral foreign policy
  • An ability to work independently
  • English language fluency required
